Auto finance companies were busy during August.
Chrysler recently announced its best August sales month since 2007, increasing sales 14 percent on a year-over-year comparison. August marked the automakers 29th consecutive month of year-over-year sales increases.
The Chrysler, Dodge, Ram Truck, Jeep and Fiat brands all had sales increases on a year-over-year comparison during August. Fiat sales led the way, increasing 34 percent since August last year.
“Our Iron Man streak continued last month as we posted our 29th-consecutive month of year-over-year sales growth,” said Reid Bigland, president and CEO of Dodge Brand and head of U.S. Sales. “Our hard work over the past few years is starting to pay some dividends in our sales growth, quality awards and profitability. Not to mention, an incredibly resilient U.S. new vehicle sales industry doesn’t hurt either.”
Chrysler was not the only automaker having success during the month of August. Ford U.S. sales increased 13 percent on a year-over-year comparison while also having a 19 percent increase in retail sales during that same period of time.
The Ford Escape posted its best ever sales results with a 37 percent increase since August last year, while the Ford Explorer saw its largest sales increases since 2006.
